Donald Trump appears on screen as his Manhattan hush money sentencing begins

Donald Trump’s sentencing for his criminal conviction in the hush money case is now underway in Manhattan criminal court.

Trump isn’t in the room, but instead is appearing virtually. His image is broadcast on several large screens in the courtroom. On the video feed, he is seated next to his attorney Todd Blanche, and there are two American flags positioned in the background between them.

Appearing in person is Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose office prosecuted the case in which Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of concealing a $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Aside from Bragg and his prosecutors, the judge, a lawyer for Trump and a handful of sketch artists, the courtroom is largely occupied by several dozen reporters. And, as Trump repeatedly complained during the trial last spring, the room is freezing.

The sentencing is expected to take about an hour.
